July 3, 2018 - Holland America Line (HAL) and Phoenix Reisen announce that MS Prinsendam will leave the Holland America Line fleet in July 2019 and move to Phoenix. Holland America Line announces that the Prinsendam will be leaving the HAL fleet on July 1st, 2019. The ship, measured at 37.983 tons, was apparently sold beforehand. Because HAL also states that the Prinsendam would be chartered after the sale of HAL in order to process the trips scheduled until June 30, 2019.

The cruise ship, built in 1988, first sailed for the Royal Viking Line under the name Royal Viking Sun. The Cunard Line used the ship between 1994 and 1998. Then it moved within the Carnival group to Seabourn. There it went under the name Seabourn Sun. It has been operating for HAL under the name Prinsendam since 2002.
MS Amera is the fifth ship in the Phoenix ocean-going fleet. Its special features are: a classic promenade deck, spacious outdoor and indoor areas and many balcony cabins. Information on MS Amera and the planned voyages will be published shortly. The photo shows the Prinsendam with the (retouched) Phoenix logo.
