13th November, 2020 - What sounds like a joke is true. Royal Caribbean International has launched a website for potential test subjects. The cruise brand is looking for volunteers who will be available for test purposes for the upcoming test cruises.
When it comes to resuming cruises from US ports, the CDC, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has an important say. Test cruises are part of the regulatory framework imposed by the CDCs. The authority committed the cruise lines to the introduction of new rules last October. In return, the cruise ban was lifted. Part of these principles, which apply to departures from all US ports, are test cruises that must be carried out for each individual ship. The journeys are monitored by company managers, employees of a classification society and representatives of the CDC.

Cruises are assumed to be of short duration. The trips lead to CocoCay, the shipping company's private island. Royal Caribbean would like to test all processes in a so-called bubble there. This week alone, more than 3.000 interested people contacted the company by email.
