TransOcean cruises: the new ship is called IDA PFEIFFER

January 25, 2020 - Cruiseturtle reported in November 2019 that the MS ASTOR will no longer operate for TransOcean cruises from May 1, 2021. It is replaced by IDA PFEIFFER. The ships name will in future stand for the 219 meter long Ex Pacific Aria, Ex Ryndam.

TransOcean Cruises is part of CMV Holdings London Ltd. The company currently owns four classic cruise ships. Sophisticated routes with maximum lay times, exciting passages, good cuisine and warm, courteous service represent the company's philosophy. British “crusaders” like all of this, and German guests are also impressed by it.

The ship names of the CMV fleet paid tribute to world-famous male explorers with Columbus, Magellan and Vasco da Gama. It is your turn to pay tribute to an explorer. What does IDA PFEIFFER stand for? The Viennese Ida Pfeiffer is, it seems, a worthy name bearer. Born in 1797, at the age of 44, she embarked on a 10-month trip to Palestine and Egypt alone. She then went on a trip to Iceland, Norway and Sweden between April 1845 and October 1845. In May 1846 she set out on her first trip around the world, from which she returned to Vienna in November 1848. She began her second world tour in May 1851. This journey ended in November 1854 in London. The next trip took her to Mauritius and Madagascar between 1856 and 1858. There she became infected with malaria. In October 1858 she died in Vienna of the long-term effects of the disease. She financed her travels as a travel writer. She wrote 13 books that have been translated into seven languages.
