Royal Caribbean has sixth Oasis class ship built


February 19, 2019 - Royal Caribbean has put four Oasis-class ships into service so far. A fifth ship is currently being built. Yesterday the cruise company announced that a sixth cruise ship in this class has been ordered. Completion date: autumn 2023.

Royal Caribbean has confirmed the agreement reached with the French shipbuilding company Chantiers de l'Atlantique in St. Nazaire for the construction of a sixth Oasis class ship. The completion date is given as autumn 2023. As usual in the cruise industry, the planned new building is still subject to financing. Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. however, don't fail. Financing negotiations should be completed in the second and third quarters of 2019.

Yesterday, Richard D. Fain, Chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. the success story of the ship class and the longstanding partnership between the shipyard and the cruise company. For the shipyard, it is the 23rd cruise ship that is being built for Royal Caribbean.

The Oasis class represents the largest cruise lines in the world. In autumn 2018, the fourth and so far last ship was the Symphony of the Seas put into service. Ships of this class are over 360 meters long and almost 66 meters wide. They are measured at a good 228.000 GT. The Symphony of the Seas has 2.759 cabins and suites on 16 passenger decks. With double occupancy, this corresponds to 5.535 guests. The total capacity of the ship is 6.870 guests. 2.100 crew members take care of the guests. The fifth ship of the Oasis class, which is currently under construction, is due to be taken over in spring 2021.

Unmistakable trademarks of the ship class are the Central Park with more than 10.000 plants and trees, the Boardwalk, the Royal Promenade, a pool and sports zone and much more.
