Costa Crociere responds to protective measures taken by Italy

March 10, 2020 -Costa Crociere changes the routes of the ships in Italy. With this, the shipping company is following the protective measures of the Italian government, which have the goal ofcurb health emergency on Italian territory. Costa Crociere has reviewed the itinerary of all ships calling at Italian ports by April 3, 2020.

Neil Palomba, President of Costa Crociere, is quoted as saying about this decision: “As an Italian company and the only cruise operator operating under the Italian flag, we are obliged to ensure and comply with the regulations of the Italian authorities. With this we support the community in this extraordinary effort to cope with the current emergency situation ”.

Costa cruise ships only call at Italian ports to allow guests to disembark and return to their homes. Excursions or new embarkations do not take place. The shipping company informs all guests affected by these changes immediately and reimburses them the full travel price. 

The shipping company also states that protecting the health and safety of guests and crew members is a top priority for Costa Crociere. The strict hygiene standards on board Costa Crociere's ships have been increased again to ensure the highest level of hygiene and safety for guests and crew members. The shipping company explains that since the beginning of the Covid-19 emergency, it has introduced strict health screenings for guests and crew upon embarkation.
