Costa Venezia christened in Trieste


March 4, 2019 - On February 28th, the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone officially handed over the new cruise ship Costa Venezia to Costa Crociere. The ship was christened the following day in the port of Trieste. The highlight of the baptism: the flight over theItalian aerobatic team "Frecce Tricolori" over the ship and the port of Triest . The baptism was performed by a Chinese family.

Costa Venezia can only be booked for Chinese guests. From May 18, 2019, the new building will set out on cruises in Asia from Shanghai. A Chinese godmother was therefore selected for the ship's christening. Godmother Gan Beiye and her family are big Costa fans. They made their first Costa trip in 2011. Families like those of the godparents are the ideal guests that Costa Crociere woos with the Venezia.

The baptism was attended by 2.000 guests. Among them were representatives of the Italian government, the province, the city of Trieste, the port authority and the shipyard. The Bishop of Trieste, Gianpaolo Crepaldi, blessed the ship. The christening act ended at midnight with a 15-minute fireworks display, framed by music.

On board the Costa Venezia, travelers will in future be able to enjoy the delicacies of Italian cuisine, shop for well-known Italian brands in the on-board shops, and enjoy Italian entertainment, such as Venetian costume parties. The Italian dishes are expanded to include a large selection of Chinese dishes.
